Daranak Falls

Daranak falls is located in Brgy. Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, a few minutes from Tanay market.

It is a government-owned park and part of the laguna watershed. If you are going by private vehicle, just follow the road going to Laguna from Antipolo. At the Daranak-Tanay junction (see waypoint), turn left and head straight uphill. You will see a sign "To Daranak Falls" at the left side of the road. You have to turn left here. It's hard to miss since there are several fruit stands on both sides of the road which sell fruits in season. Once you have turned left, just go straight, passing by several farms (poultry and hog) which you will notice by the smell =). Check you brakes as you will pass by rocky steep roads. You will arrive at the parking area of Daranak at the end of this road. You have to pay for parking (20Php), entrance fee (about P20/person) and cottages (about P350 for a small one). Overnight stay is not accommodated.

If you are going by public transportation, you can ride a jeep or FX to Tanay in Araneta center (Cubao) or in front of StarMall (Edsa cor shaw blvd). Get off at Tanay market and take a tricycle (or jeep if you are a large group). You will normally get the tricycle for P150/trip (max 3 passengers). You can bargain for the return trip as there are no tricycle waiting near the falls. You will have to take a hike to the main road to get a ride back to the market.

WHY CALLED DARANAK?
Tanay, Rizal Philippines is home to its prestigious well known falls the Daranak falls, it get its name during the Japanese days when the tanayans want to defend it from the invader they said “Dadanak ang Dugo” today the Tanay, Daranak Falls is one of the shooting hotspot location. Some of the biggest TV Series where shoot there like Mulawin, Encantadia, Sugo and kamandag.
Daranak falls is also having a sister falls up. Its name is Batlag falls, Batlag falls is more beautiful than daranak it is because of the huge tree and the sound of nature that you will fell. Don’t worry when you go there at daranak you can also go to batlag Falls, it near there. Only you will pay an additional entrance fee but its worthy.
Find yourself there and it is very relaxing, only 2-3 hours drive away from the east of manila.

We went there last June 5, 2010 and it was a "biglaan trip" but i tell you, as they all said "The best plan is to not plan at all" and that is right! we had so much fun there. We are not kids anymore, but when we got there, we all act like kids who only want is to swim and swim and swim, it was very relaxing, you feel that you're very far away from the noisy and polluted city in Manila. I probably go back again here, and its very near. we only got there 2hrs from Valenzuela.
